  1.  add lock for Send me my info!

Oct (9 changes) ^ Jan Feb  Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec

  1. Photo Ads - This version real time version is not a publication and as soon as someone has a new pic up on their profile it is shown here. Uses collapsible menus for the photo gallery and goes straight to the users profile. The navigation at the top is by timezone but mouse over information tells you what countries are included.
Javascript needs to be enabled on your browser, and you need to have logged on.
  2. ToolTips (eg mouse over the previous word "ToolTips")
More things such as ICONS that show a status of some kind have more mouse over 'toolTip' info so use your mouse more to have over bits your don't understand. Likewise ToolTip font size is adjusted to yout local browser settings  -you should always be able to read it otherwise it means you cant read the rest of your screen (eg you have a 1600x1200 setting on your 17" LCD flat screen or is that just me?)
  3. Hot Edit
When you are logged on this allows you to edit that bit of content such as your advert or what you are into using a rich content editor. So when you see this next to somewhere in your advert  or one of your articles, just click edit and save - its that simple.
  4. This is a Tool Tip Bouncing Email
No not a new game but when the system checkout your email it is flagged as in error, unknown or rejected. This might be because you have a spam filter that hides your email or you have forgotten to update it, or you are over quota. The problem is explained in a number of reason codes so you can tell if it is a short term or a long term problem.
Subscribers can look at an advert or profile and see the status someone's email and request that it is rechecked.
  5. This is a Tool Tip Email is good
The system as tested your email and it checks out 100%.
Subscribers can look at an advert or profile and see the status someone's email and
and see just when it was lasted checked.
  6. Forgotten password ver 1.2
This includes includes a revised format for the subject line to it does not look like the virus spam that is out there. The SMTP has had addition changes to it so that you are less likely to have a blacklisted email address.
  7. The Changed Password email is now ver 2.7 and has the 'click here' typo fixed. so you can use the email to change your password.
  8. Send me my info!
    • This first verified your email address from the server end, if it was found to be ok it then updates the database, it it was bad it will not. You can click on the  [+] button to see the complete Log Detail message. It will return a simple status along with icons such as This is a Tool Tip or This is a Tool Tip if your emails provider does not allow for mail checking you would get  and icon such as your email cannot be automatically checked and will require repeated manual verification - check your spam setting or change email address. you will also able able to issue a email to manually verify your emails address without changing your password. These icons have mouse over info.
    • It then searches for personal information formats it and then emails it to you.
    NOTE:
This window does not say this email is a member or not a member of the doghouse for security reasons  -like imaging your boss or psycho boyfriend checking out this information. You boss would also have access to your work email content, so he could grab your logon info that way. So there will be a profile lock to stop emails being sent unless you unlocked this.
However if you have lost your logon info but dont want to be sent your logon info - then what?
This window also prohibits misuse for example if you want to manually check out loads of email addresses which have nothing to do with the doghouse that IP will be added to the black list (CBL) at locations such as mail-abuse.org

  9. New Server Commissioning which will mean:
    • no more slow loading pages,
    • no more Portal.thedoghouse vs thedoghouse etc just one site unless you are accessing the site via your PDA or mobile phone.
    • server located next to the Gulf of Mexico -  could have been better placed!!
    • will mean a planned outage as the SQL server is replicated and the applications have been moved - will be a two step process.
    • more features for after the move
    • harmonised one step logon for all applications.
    • simplified interface - thanks you for all your emails.
    • the availability of HTTPS://thedoghouse.org
    • the availability of webmail so you can have me@thedoghouse.org but that is waiting until the the lock down is complete - otherwise all your spammers in Singapore.sg will be bothering the members.

  4. Articles - These are personal contribution about various facets of the SM dog lifestyle. So it is quick enough for you to perhaps navigate to articles which are personal contribution from myself and more importantly be the doghouse members. And their point? To inform, to stimulating and to push the boundaries in this k9 space of this community.

The 'Style Guidelines' talk about writing for the web and 'Editing Content' shows you how. More...
  5. Service Level Agreement, Terms and Conditions.
Changes to agreement of service provision, and outage compensation for subscribers.
Whilst a server may be fine, does not mean the room its in is free from outages or the cables to it.

  11.  ^   Cock
Astrology signs  -  When you update your profile you get your Astrology info coming up. Where you born in the year of the dog or the year of the pig?  If you Mouse over these signs it gives some info about that sign. After a while you can figure out who you are compatible with and who less so. I know it sounds full of crap  but there is something in it.
This of course assumes that people dont lie about their year of birth just so they can say they were a Pig sign - To address this I have separated the DOB information from the public display of age.

  1. Welcome to the Profile Centre. Take control of your profile, your advert placement.
  2. You will notice that at the top of the pages there will be a green logon bar - this will also form part of your control panel so that you stay it touch with all the other members. Once you logon you can access your profile centre and begin to feel at home in the doghouse.
  3. Set up automation to delete accounts with Bad Emails ('Email Box is invalid' or other 550 error) in the user logon area for non-subscribers.
  4. Improved instant access  for pay pal payments.
  5. Added more into the China region adverts.
  6. What's new in 2005
The fundamental changes that are under way are:

    • Innovation - The site is becoming ever more data driven and real time which means moving human intervention for publishing to logon and take control. This is not a big step, but moving over a 1000 pages into a common format and an integrated content management system takes some time. With investment in leading Microsoft technology the technical architecture of the site allow for significant growth and fault tolerance.
If the site did not matter that I could have used PHP and MySQL on the cheapest Linux server - all of that technology is free right!. So why is it that your bank, the news networks, ebay and the military dont use it? Going down the route of being a Microsoft partner and taking the best advice we believe that we can deliver more choice, quality and value.

    • Choice - When the system comes under load - it is those that have not subscribed that will be locked out and the optimum performance is guaranteed for the subscribers. This also means that there is no accidental access to pictures or X-rated content by minors. If you had a choice and you needed surgery would you get your mate to do it or a surgeon?

    • Quality - The feedback I have got from the members is that this site is special and unique  - though much copied there is still something special about belonging to this K9 community.
So as a subscriber you get the best performance possible, access to more features, performance with the highest priority because you are worth it.    That might sound trite but I look at it this way: I really enjoy my coffee, I know that the coffee beans  for a cup of coffee don't cost $5 a cup and the growers sure don't get that!   But if I go to Starbucks and have a fantastic coffee, with the best service and I love it so much and can chat to my friends at the same time over a WiFi network, then it is different to having a free coffee that you can see through at some diner.    If this what the doghouse represents is of value to you then its worth having the best, otherwise anything will do.
Being a subscriber are investing in quality, innovation and are part of something.
    • Value - There are members that are still students or  do not VISA cards or bank accounts and so on.
I have tried to cover diverse payment options and discount for students.
There are of course people who want everything for free; since there is no such thing as a free lunch, the site is either paid for out of someone Marketing Budget or its just a hobby.
There is no further content development on the old static site of some 1000 pages. The adverts remain free.
